REAR “DOUBLE WISHBONE” SUSPENSION SYSTEM CLASS ACTION
A class action has been filed by Honda and Acura car buyers against American Honda Motor Company in U.S. District Court in California. Honda and Acura have claimed that the rear suspension on most Honda and Acura vehicles is of the “Double Wishbone” design. Despite Honda’s claims, the rear suspension systems of the particular Honda and Acura vehicles are not of the "double wishbone” design.
“Double-Wishbone” is the suspension design used on many racing cars, including Formula One race cars. (See diagram at right) Honda and Acura have invoked the suspension design of Formula One race cars in describing the precision, safe handling and performance of the “Double Wishbone” design they claimed their vehicles had. The suit alleges that Honda and Acura used the “Double Wishbone Suspension” claim to elevate the value and desirability of their respective vehicles in the marketplace.
